(A/N: My first Marvel/Thor/Avengers fic! In this Thor and Loki are around 10-12ish years old in Earth terms.)

As usual, Loki was reading. Then, he was interrupted by Thor. Again.

"Ugh!" his brother growled as he slammed the pile of books he was holding onto the table making it shake.

Loki exhaled slowly. "What?" he snapped once he calmed his annoyance.

"Why is history so boring?" Thor whined.
Loki scoffed, "Boring? You're the one who sits up front when warriors tell their tales and beg for 'one more story' at two in the morning."

Thor plopped himself down in the chair across from his brother with so much exaggeration that he probably burned off his energy from lunch just by doing that.

"That's because its interesting!" he replied simply. "If all of history were wars and battles, then it'd be easy. But no, I have to know the treaties we've made, how many people were born, how; I don't know- how many potatoes we've traded in the last 100 years!"

"You love potatoes."

"That's beside the point! You know what I mean!" Thor snapped. He then sighed as he covered his face with his hands. "If I don't pass the upcoming assessment, Father will take away my training time."

Which was, of course, nearly Thor's meaning for existence at the time.

"It's not like fighting, you can't just... figure it out, not like learning to take down an enemy." he explained. "You just have to memorize it." he sighed.

Loki began to return to his book, fed up with Thor's  constant whining over his academics, it was his own fault for not paying attention. Thor thought nobody noticed because nothing was said to him but Loki remembers very vividly his brother drooling all over his desk in history. His moment of peace was only a moment before he sensed Thor staring at him from the other side of the hardback. Sure enough, when he pulled the pages away from his face, Thor's bright blue eyes were inches away from his own.

"Loki! You're good at history right!?"

Loki slightly recoiled at his loud voice. "First of all, there's no need to shout; I'm right here." he said as he made a mental note to himself to make Thor talk softer in the future.
"Anyways, I suppose I'm passing, Father hasn't told me to work harder in that class, so I guess I'm doing alright."

His brother ignored his comment. "How do you do it?" he asked eagerly.

Loki sighed.
"Thor, you can't just teach someone how 'to do history'" he replied as he emphasized his brother's foolish name for the subject.

"But certainly there's something you do the help remember it all!"

"I just study Thor, I just look over it again and again."

"There's no way that you can remember every little detail required; I don't care how smart you are!" he pouted, crossing his arms.

It was true, Loki had taken the very test that was causing Thor distress, and it was annoyingly specific. He had still passed with flying colors, but he did pay attention more than Thor did.

Ah yes. Now he remembered.
He couldn't stop the smirk spreading across his features.

Thor noticed and his eyes pleaded with dying curiosity for his brother to tell him what crossed his mind.

"Don't tell anyone?"

Thor nodded vigorously without hesitation.

"I cheated for a couple of the questions I didn't know." Loki said quietly.
There was no one else in the Library, but better safe then sorry.

His brother just stared at him with those big blue eyes of his. He blinked. Once. Twice.

"Are you kidding me?"

"Only on like, fifteen- I knew the rest!" he interjected quickly as Thor gaped at him. "I wrote down on a piece of paper all the answers I didn't know; then I practiced making an illusion of it. No need to remember the answers, and if the teacher comes over, the cheat sheet was never there." he said with a wave of his hand. Unfortunately for Thor he didn't have the gift of Sedir. That he knew.

"Please, please, please, please, please help me pass Loki! I'll...give you all my desert for a week!"

One, two, three...

"Alright- a month!" Thor grumbled.

Loki set his book down and grinned. "That's more like it." It wasn't much really, Thor still didn't know he had mastered the art of stealing sweets from the kitchen months ago. Yet still he pulled out a piece of paper and pen.

"But we will still have to find all the answers to the questions you don't know."

Thor groaned.

"But not too many, because if you suddenly ace this test it will be suspicious. So I'd say... if you score around 75 out of 100 Father should accept that."

But as usual, Thor was more than up for the heroic save-the-day at the last moment challenge. Or, in this case, save his own tail. So they eventually found some questions Thor already knew the answers to, a pitifully small amount, but some nothingless. Thor found and wrote down all the answers to the questions he didn't know as Loki added each of them to an illusion that he would be able to cast from a distance. It was harder to make Thor's cheat sheet than his own, probably because there was four times the amount information on his brother's.

Note to self: Never do this again.

"I think its ready." Loki announced as he summoned the cheat sheet illusion instantly within Thor's hand, then making it disappear as quickly as it had come. He checked it over once more before he was satisfied.

______________

Then came the day of the test. After a good five minutes Loki raised his hand.

"Teacher, may I go to the bathroom?"

Although it was the oldest, most blatant lie that students use to try to get out of class, Loki never did that. So the one time he does ask to leave it works like magic. The teacher still told him to 'make it quick' out of routine.

He snuck around to where Thor's class was and scrambled up a tree in the courtyard as vantage point. He made the cheat sheet appear and his brother glanced over to the window he was at.

Idiot!

"Paper!" he mouthed furiously. And thank the sky above that Thor wasn't that dumb. Yet, he obviously had never cheated before. He caught on quickly and stopped staring though.

Now all that was left was a stressful waiting game for Thor to finish, and to make sure nobody noticed the younger prince perched in a tree peering into the history classroom.

As Thor finished up his test he started gathering his supplies. Loki nearly fell out of the tree in exasperation, Thor really didn't like to think ahead did he? He made the cheat sheet appear again and Thor quickly stopped and hid it from view. Loki knew he couldn't project a message without it being written down first (at least not yet) so he quickly scratched it into the tree's branch using his pocket knife and crossed his fingers that it would be legible enough. Thor had the good sense to stop and pretend to be reviewing his answers, so hopefully he also heeded the rest of Loki's warning.

But Loki could only hope for that. He'd been gone for a good five minutes. Its time to leave. The rest was up to Thor.

______________

The Allfather stroked his beard as he listened to the teacher's report.

"I'll say sir, he truly must have shaped up with his academics. Thor actually won't have to retake my class!"

"Yes, thank you. I'm glad he finally started taking studying seriously. You are dismissed."

The teacher left, leaving Odin by himself.

That's odd though, I haven't seen Thor studying recently...

He never got to finish that thought however, as the doors to his study were thrown open.

"Forgive me for not announcing my presence Allfather, but the stables are on fire!"

He quickly rushed to the stables, his magic would be helpful in smoldering the flames.
The thought forgotten, yet the effect appreciated none the less

_____________

Frigga gently folded away the formal report of Thor's history assessment.
She smiled to herself.
"Those boys...did they really think no one would notice?"
